Hope you got some good language practice from the video and enjoyed their escapades on that cold winter's night. They came to support Johan Nayar's film The Banjo Boys at its international premiere in New York City.
The film follows Yobu and Yosefe, two Malawian street musicians who built instruments from wire and tin cans, and Neil, the British travelling musician who discovered them playing on the streets of Lilongwe. What began as a chance encounter transformed into an incredible journey—from the dusty streets of Malawi to international stages in Zanzibar, Europe, and the United States.
Johan Nayar, the filmmaker behind this documentary (and editor of Rachel's English YouTube channel), spent years capturing this remarkable story of friendship, perseverance, and the universal language of music.
From street corners to sold-out shows—this is their journey.
